Marabou is in the lower left corner of the photo looking into the rotunda. White marble goes up 3/4 of the walls, then the walls start arch when meeting the ceiling. Grey-scale portraits of explorers, including Christopher Columbus, interspersed with color murals of New York Harbor decorate the curved ceiling of the cavernous rotunda. In the middle of the ceiling is an oval oculus lighting the entire space.
