Tenement Museum Union Sets Up Mutual Aid for Workers Unemployed Because of Corona Virus Closure

With the closing of museums and cultural institutions indefinitely, workers are left in precarious financial circumstances, many without a paycheck coming in. Together we are figuring out ways to help each other. The Tenement Museum Union is working on mutual aid.

The Tenement Museum Union posted the image above with the caption reading,

The Tenement Museum is temporarily closed. Many of our members are part-time workers who work multiple jobs in the arts, education, service industry and more. However, it is not only employees at the Museum who are affected and we hope that those in our wider community are supporting others if they are able, and seeking support, financial and otherwise, from funds that have been set up in individual neighborhoods and more widely for artists and gig workers. Please reach out via DM or email (in bio) if you don’t know where to get help or where to offer help. We have established a Mutual Aid In Hardship Fund for our membership and are immediately supporting needs internally, but are working to set up a system that could accept outside donations. What is important to us now, is that you take care of yourselves and those around you. In solidarity ✊🏽✊🏼✊🏾✊🏿
